Software Test Engineer

An opportunity exists for a Software Test Engineer in the Engineering Department, primarily to verify and validate that products meet an agreed set of requirements. The role encompasses system and software testing for all stages in a product's life cycle. Working closely with the engineering team, the Software Test Engineer will be expected to achieve a high quality standard, working to achieve time targets, specification and balance costs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Automation of the acceptance tests for Industrial and Aerospace products.
  • Management, configuration and maintenance of the complete testing process including the product issues database.
  • Test plan and script design/implementation.
  • Bug recreation and verification.
  • Assisting the engineering team to develop and continually improve the design life cycle processes for product development.
  • Assisting the engineering team, where necessary, with the support and maintenance of the existing Industrial and Aerospace equipment.
  • Project management of the testing process.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors and customers.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Management Team to ensure that project and business-wide targets are met.
  • Contribute towards the continual improvement of working practices and methods.

Experience

Must have:

  • Microsoft Visual Studio unit test and coded UI test experience.
  • Previous software development experience.
  • Practical knowledge of the software development life cycle.
  • Best practice techniques for software and systems testing.

Desirable:

  • Automated test methods.
  • Technical authoring of all documents required by the design life cycle.
  • C# is a desirable skill.
  • Rational Robot/Team Test experience.
  • Knowledge of the systems being tested (hardware and software).
  • Working knowledge of the company's QA system for software design 'ISO 90003'.
  • Experience of working in a design environment, such as military or aerospace, that employs a robust approach to product development activity would be advantageous.
